About

Longevity. Survivability. Sustainability.

Empyrean Aerospace Ltd is a UK IP-driven technology platform. We do not build the drone. We make it better.

  • Perpetual flight. Harvested energy meets or exceeds consumption over a full day-night cycle. Lighter-than-air and high-altitude platforms.
  • Extended flight. The sail extends a sortie in flight or in hover on battery-electric platforms.
  • Ground recharge. Land, recharge from the sail, fly on. Range extension across sorties without a battery-swap crew.
  • Expeditionary support. Power for the site rather than the aircraft: ground control, datalink, ground power and turnaround, for any powertrain.

Who we are

Advancing the science of flight.

Our first product line, SkySail, integrates solar flight technology into advanced UAV systems to deliver long-endurance flight, extended loitering and autonomous off-grid recharging.

Solar-augmented flight is a proven discipline. A decade of demonstrators has established the physics, the materials and the flight-control envelope. Those demonstrators also share the same inherent flaws: bespoke airframes, fragile structures and no route to the platforms operators actually fly. SkySail extends the proven envelope by an order of magnitude without inventing new physics, and it does so on hardware already in service.

Empyrean Aerospace was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in London. The company is seed-stage and privately held.

How we work

From component to capability. From capability to programme.

Proven technology

Mature solar materials paired with proven UAV platforms. We integrate; we do not gamble on unproven cells or unflown airframes.

CapEx-light

Licensing and right-to-produce agreements let OEMs manufacture within their own supply chains. Existing primes validate the engineering against their own programmes.

Protected market access

Aligned with defence procurement and critical infrastructure operators, and designed for long-cycle programmes.

Sectors

Where energy is the constraint.

Persistent, self-powered UAV operation changes what a fleet can do in every sector where missions are cut short by the battery rather than the task.

  • Defence and ISR. Persistent surveillance, extended loiter and reduced logistics burden on fielded platforms.
  • Critical infrastructure. Long-range inspection of pipelines, grids and rail with fewer returns to base.
  • Agriculture. Multi-field coverage in a single sortie.
  • Logistics. Doubled delivery range with full asset flyback and recovery.
  • Emergency response. Off-grid operation where fixed power is unavailable.
